Friends of the Osa: The Osa Biodiversity Center
Friends of the Osa is now constructing the facilities of Osa Biodiversity Center on our property near the Rio Piro. Once completed, the OBC will serve as an educational institution where students, researchers and professionals study the Osa’s tropical ecology and plan scientifically-grounded conservation strategies.
The scheduled completion date is the fourth quarter of 2006. Beginning in January 2007, the OBC will:
- Provide facilities to support scientific research on the Osa,
- House training and skills workshops for members of the Osa’s communities,
- Offer educational programs in tropical ecology for students from around the world,
- Be a central meeting place where conservation and community events can be held.
